October 2022
If September was chaos, October was probably just over-scheduled and jam-packed with so many things to do and not nearly enough time to do them all. Basically, what I'm saying is that I failed big time at tackling the #allthethingsididnthavetimetodolist but I did get a whole lot of other things done.
October is Spooky Month and so, naturally, I got spooky. October 1st, we pulled out all of the totes of Halloween decor and I decorated the inside of the house. We got started on the outside, but only with the things that could withstand the expected rain (We've learned our lessons in past years). Then, of course, it didn't rain until the 21st.
I painted my nails, alternating orange and black, so of course they started chipping a few days in. Not exactly the coolest look, so I had to re-do them.
Now that things are easing back to a new normal for the kids' schools, we (the Parent Advisory Council) were able to put on a Halloween event for the school community for the first time since 2019. So we did. And because Halloween is kinda my thing, I headed up the planning committee and put in a lot of spare time that I didn't have into making it as awesome as possible.
It was a lot of work and I was super exhausted once it was over.
Literally the next day, I was up at 6:30am so that I could get ready for SiWC 2022 because that, too, was in-person this year. It was so good to be back. Even though I was worn out and every ounce of extroversion in my body had been used up, it was just so great to be in the presence of other writers again and talk about words and processes and connect with that kind of common experience.
It was also inspiring, so I've decided to give NaNoWriMo a try this year -- for real. Like, an honest attempt to write 50,000 words in 30 days.
So, it's really no surprise that I didn't actually accomplish anything on my #allthethingsididnthavetimetodolist
