November 2022

I'm not sure what to say about November except that it was National Novel Writing Month.

✅ Participate in NaNoWriMo

So, I didn't win. I only wrote 17,441 words in November, which is not even close to the 50,000 words needed to declare myself a NaNo "winner."

But, I wrote 17,441 words in November.

I really need to say that again.
I wrote 17,441 words between November 1 and November 30.
That's the most words I've written in such a long time.

And the best part is that I've rediscovered my process. Meaning that I need to put pen to paper and just write the scenes that are showing up in my head. I can worry about the particular order later, when I'm typing it up and finding the timeline. Words on the page matter. I don't need to write every day and some days are better than others.
On November 7th, I managed 279 words. On November 27th, I wrote 2683 words.
Some days were littered with small bursts of a few hundred words at a time. Others were pages that seemed to happen almost effortlessly. Out of the entire month, I wrote on 14 days. So, in 14 days (which adds up to 2 weeks) I wrote 17,441 words.

I can't stop saying this.
I wrote 17,441 words.

I'm so glad I found this magic again.

So I didn't win NaNoWriMo2022. But I have a good momentum, a great writing playlist, and a peaceful understanding that this novel will happen as it happens. I just have to keep writing it.
